Team members from Lowe’s national “Help a Hero” project came to U.S.VETS-Riverside to renovate and complete the site’s Career Center. Renovations began in mid July with a spattering of Lowe’s employee’s and ended August 13th, with over 50 Lowe’s employee’s working an entire Saturday to complete the Career Center and the outdoor BBQ area.  The improvements included replacing 2,000 square feet of carpeting, installing six energy efficient ceiling fans, rebuilding ten computer and two phone stations, building aCareer Counselor office, constructing a separating wall and French double doors, and painting the entire space.

The result of the renovation is an area capable of seating over ninety people for training or conferences, while also allowing ten people computer access for job searches or resume writing. Additionally, Lowe’s also donated all tools required to perform the work and brought in forty yards of wood bark, refinished an old BBQ by converting it into a serving buffet, donating approximately ten palm trees and over fifty patio chairs to create an outdoor event facility.

Thank you Lowe’s for helping us serve those who served!
