HomeAid Houston and team members, Ryan Boyles with GB General Contractors Inc., and Lynne T. Jones with Lynn T. Jones Interior Design, help dedicate the renovation project they spearheaded at the United States Veterans Initiative Mid Town Terraces facility.
The building was in need of a complete remodel of the day room that provides a places for Vets to relax and socialize.
Mid Town Terraces
The Mid Town Terraces facility has offered housing and services for thousands of homeless U.S. Vets over the past 14 years, with an estimated 323 receiving services each day. Work included wall repair and painting, renovation of the floor and installation of the new tile, replacement of sink, toilet, light fixture, mirror, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers and a complete refurnishing of the common area.
Included in the dedication ceremony was March Welch, HomeAid Houston board president; Bette Moser, executive director of HomeAid Houston; Tom Mitchell, executive director, U.S. Veterans Initiative; Ryan Boyles, GB General Contractors and remodeler captain; Lynne T. Jones, designer for Lynn T. Jones Interior Designl and Will Holder, GHBA president. Guests included vendors who donated materials and labor as well as a number of elected officials.
The U.S. Veterans Initiative provides comprehensive services to veterans it serves, including case management, employment assistance, job placement, counseling, as well as drug and alcohol-free housing.
“The U.S.Veterans Initiative project has brought HomeAid Houston together with a generous team of donors who have provided materials and services to update and enhance the Mid Town Terraces facility,” Welch said.
“Each donation is one step closer to creating a warm, friendly environment for our nation’s veterans who are on a path towards independence,” he said.
