In times of war, weary troops Stand Down to rest and recover from the physical and psychological toll of combat. Many veterans who have battles to fight at home need a safe and secure place to rest, recharge, and get back on their feet. All across the nation, volunteers and organizations host Stand Down events to provide food, clothing, services and referrals to these veterans in need. The ultimate goal of a Stand Down is to offer the veteran renewal of spirit, health, and overall well-being in a safe environment.
In 2011, U.S.VETS initiated an annual Stand Down specifically for female veterans. The programs and services provided at the Stand Down are carefully chosen to meet the unique needs and challenges that female veterans face. U.S.VETS’ Female Veteran Stand Down is the largest of its kind in the country.
The Stand Down offers a wide range of services to female veterans of all ages, including medical, dental, and vision clinics, legal consultation, and employment workshops.
The theme for the 3rd Annual All Female Stand Down is Honoring Women Veterans: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
