U.S. VETS - Inglewood, Westside Residence Hall, has 515 beds available for homeless veterans

Westside Residence Hall is U.S. VETS' inaugural site and houses over 500 formerly homeless veterans each night.

At Westside, homeless veterans find safe, sober, affordable transitional housing, with access to case management, counseling, employment assistance, job training, and career planning in a seamless continuum of support.

On-Site Veteran Services Include:

  • Outreach (serving 1500 individual homeless veterans annually through 96 LA County programs)
  • Veterans In Progress Residential Employment Program
  • Fathers Program (for veterans with Child Support Issues)
  • High Barriers Program (for veterans with multiple disabilities or prior felony convictions)
  • 350 beds long-term transitional housing
  • Food Service
  • State-of-the-art Career Center
  • Employment & Training Programs
  • Clinical Support office (fully staffed through the West LA VA Medical Center)
  • 35 support groups each week

The Westside Residence Hall is located on the west side of Los Angeles near the LA Airport. The facility is owned and operated by Westside Residence Hall Inc. an affiliate of the Cloudbreak Development family of companies that is responsible for the development, financing, renovation and property management of the building. Support services are provided by the United States Veterans Initiative, which includes partnerships with the west Los Angeles VA Medical Center to provide clinical counseling; the Employment Development Department and Veterans Workforce Investment Program (VWIP) to provide employment assistance; the Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide supportive services; the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide residential employment services; and the Disabled Veterans Charities and other private groups and foundations to provide funding and support.

The Westside Residence Hall has been in operation since 1993 and has served more than 3000 male and female veterans of all ages, races, education and socioeconomic backgrounds. Some have been on the streets for months, while others have been on the streets for years. Most are recovering drug addicts and alcoholics. Many have mental and emotional disorders. 85% find employment within the first 35 days and 65% percent of the residents have made successful transition into permanent housing and self-sufficiency. The facility maintains 95% sobriety at all times.
