Waianae Civic Center is the only U.S.VETS location that provides services to both veterans, civilians and their families.
WCC began serving the Hawaii homeless population in March 2007 and currently serves 300 men, women and children each day.

Gladys Peraro is the Executive Director for U.S.VETS Waianae. Her husband Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard as Command Master Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) for 30 years.
Mrs. Peraro earned a Liberal Arts Degree at Regents University in Albany, New York and is currently enrolled in the Business Management Program at Chaminade University Hawaii pursuing a degree in Business Management and an MBA. She joined U.S.VETS in 2007, overseeing Paiolu Kaiaulu (Emergency / Transitional Housing) and Kahikolu (Transitional / Affordable Housing), and was named Executive Director in 2011. Mrs. Peraro and her team at U.S.VETS Waianae have received several awards for service to the community, including certificates from the House and Senate of the Hawaii State Legislature, a proclamation by Governor Neil Abercrombie proclaiming March 10, 2012 as Paiolu Kaiaulu Day, and recognition by former Mayor Peter B. Carlisle. In 2013, Mrs. Peraro was named a top ten finalist for the Pacific Business News’ Businesswomen of the Year Award.
In addition to her work at U.S.VETS, Mrs. Peraro served as the Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee for Hawaiis Continuum of Care for two years, currently Chairs the annual Legislative Breakfast Committee, and is Treasurer for the Executive Committee.
