Barber’s Point Partners with ALEA Bridge

 In Barbers Point

In March, U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point was awarded a substantial grant that allows us to expand our outreach services. With this new funding, the Barber’s Point’s Outreach team will be able to hire some much needed additional staff. We also were able to launch a partnership with a new subcontractor called ALEA Bridge, another local nonprofit organization dedicated to community outreach and revitalization. ALEA focuses on the homelessness issues impacting the Central Oahu and North Shore communities.

We joined hands with ALEA Bridge to collaborate efforts in doing homeless outreach amongst veterans and non-veterans, specifically in the areas from Ewa Beach to Kapolei, and from Wahiawa to North Shore. In the past, ALEA Bridge was supported through donations and volunteers. Now, U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point is able to use some of this new grant funding to help cover their costs, so that together we can find more veterans in need of U.S.VETS services.

The new partnership kicked off in April when Phil Acosta, Executive Director of ALEA Bridge, and his staff gathered at U.S.VETS for subcontractor orientation with U.S.VETS’ Executive Director, Dr. Kim Cook. We look forward to a successful partnership with ALEA Bridge and are thrilled at the opportunity to provide much-needed care to more veterans in Hawaii.
