Barbers Point Veterans Day Brunch, BBQ and Bingo
A small token of thanks to honor our veterans-On November 11th, U.S.VETS-Barbers Point hosted their annual Veterans Day Brunch. Whether it was setting up, cooking, serving, or cleaning up, staff members worked together to put on this celebration. Darryl Vincent, U.S.VETS COO, opened the festivities with a heartfelt thank you to not only the 110 veterans who were present, but also the many others who served their country. Several veterans even volunteered to share their military experience with the rest of the crowd. It was a day of camaraderie and an opportunity for staff to “serve those who served”.
Later in the afternoon, Oahu Church of Christ and their youth ministry were on site for a Veterans Day BBQ and Bingo celebration. Not only was there an abundance of entrees like steak, chicken, sausage, kalua pig, and ribs, there was also a waffle ice cream bar and an assortment of pies to follow. The evening closed with a fun-filled game of Bingo. With a total of 150 prizes and each prize containing various $5 gift cards, no one walked away empty handed. Mahalo to all of the volunteers and Linda Lingle for their time and dedication in making this event a success.
