More than 200 community agencies, partners, neighbors and friends attended the U.S. VETS – Los Angeles Open House on Thur., March 28. The event was a celebration of the site that showcased all the programs individually and provided people a chance to chat with program staff to learn more about the services. Tours provided attendees with the full picture of the site and resident housing. Guests were also treated to many samplings of the Catering Services and their colorful carved fruit displays impressed everyone.

Guest speakers included U.S. VETS President/CEO Stephen Peck along with Brig. General Ruth Wong from the LA County Department of Military and Veteran Affairs. A surprise visit from Congresswoman Maxine Waters was welcomed by the audience and during her remarks she said that the site is “one of the most important locations in my district.”

“We were so pleased to see such a strong response from the community,” said Ivan Mason, Executive Director. “The feedback we received was very positive and we believe that today’s event helped cement some new community alliances that will benefit our veterans.”
