U.S.VETS – Waianae opened our doors to the public for an Open House on Saturday, May 10. With a canned food item as the price of admission, visitors were able to go on a tour of the facility to see what services we provide. Visitors were invited to buy cotton candy, country store items, baked goods, BBQ chicken plates, hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks, with the proceeds from every sale going towards serving our clients. There were also nine different games set up for the children.
Guests also entered a raffle to win favorite local foods, graduation items, artwork and snacks, and were treated to a display of medicinal plants (la’au lapa’au) by Dr. Haaheo Guanson of the Pacific Justice & Reconciliation Center as well as the medical van from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, H.O.M.E. Project with Dr. Jill Omori and her staff. JABSOM provided free blood pressure tests as well as testing blood sugar levels.
U.S.VETS – Waianae is always thrilled to invite the community to learn more about our mission and to meet the staff of both locations – Waianae Civic Center and Kahikolu. We enjoyed beautiful, sunny weather and all were ambassadors of Aloha for U.S.VETS. Thanks to everyone who came by!
