IIDA Spruces Up Grand Veterans Village in Phoenix

On Saturday March 2nd, the International Interior Design Association adopted 8 single bedroom units at Grand Veterans Village, to renovate, furnish and decorate. U.S.VETS-Phoenix was chosen as the official charity by the IIDA, and came out in full force with nearly 100 volunteers to create beautiful rooms for veteran families to live in.

In addition to revamping the rooms, IIDA renovated, furnished, and decorated a new group room, where veterans will now have their mental health needs addressed in a calm, private, and relaxing setting. Renovations included new cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, flooring, track lighting, new bathroom fixtures, paint, as well as furniture and a water feature.

Special thanks goes out to Alexia Bertsatos for nominating U.S.VETS-Phoenix for this amazing opportunity, and her vision to create high quality rooms for veterans, and Jennifer Kittoe for her help with organizing the event, as well as all the different entities that adopted rooms and created homes for Arizona Veterans.

Everyone knows someone with an unfavorable mental condition. Whether temporary or permanent, genetic or situational, every condition, impairment, syndrome, or disease is important because every person is important. I’m glad this important group is getting the attention they need. Environment is everything: making sure they are in the appropriate place to rehabilitate makes all the difference.
