Rebuilding Together a local non-profit, with over 100 Honeywell volunteers spent 3 days giving Grand Veterans Village a facelift. They created eco-friendly low maintenance landscaping, put up all sorts of military regalia, and give Grand a very official military service provider look. In addition they put in drip systems for the indigenous plants, put up a brand new shade area in the back of the lobby, and of most significance was able to get our flagpoles operational, and got flags donated for our first official flag raising ceremony conducted by our Programs Manager Calvin Jackson retired Command Sergeant Major. In addition they put up a U.S.VETS sign where the former hotel sign used to be.
This was no small task and involved over 100 people and 3 days of work with countless thousands of dollars donated for material and labor to complete. This facelift has given U.S.VETS-Phoenix and their residents a heightened sense of pride for the site from which they operate, and send a clear message to the Phoenix community that we are in town, and here to help our veterans.
The Grand of yesterday is but a faint memory, and with renovations quickly wrapping up, soon over 130 veterans will call Grand Veterans Village home! Many thanks and a huge debt of gratitude for Rebuilding Together, and Honeywell for their continued support of U.S.VETS!
