Nearly 50 Gentry Homes employees and several of their subcontractors generously donated their time, talents and building materials to help make improvements at the Kalaeloa facility for U.S.VETS – Barbers Point. “It is our pleasure to help our veterans through U.S.VETS,” said Debbie Luning, Director of Community Relations for Gentry Homes. “Our company recognizes the dedication and hard work that our veterans have provided to protect the citizens of our country and our freedom. Our donation is a mere demonstration of our heartfelt thanks to our military troops and the respect they deserve. We strongly feel that it is our duty to give back to those who have given us so much.”
Some of the work that Gentry Homes provided included installation of new cabinetry and shelving, cleaning the dining facility and on-site gym, landscaping, and constructing a new stage. The group also prepared dinner for 130 U.S.VETS clients and staff.
Dr. Kim Cook, Executive Director for U.S.VETS – Barbers Point, offered her thanks for Gentry’s generous service.“We value Gentry’s contributions because it helps make it possible for U.S.VETS to offer essential services that support the individuals who served when their country needed them,” she said. “As troops return home, U.S.VETS strives to be a leader in innovative programs that empower our evolving veteran population with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. If not for our community’s help, many veterans would struggle to adjust to civilian life, facing issues like homelessness and substance abuse without the support system that our organization provides.”
