Hawaii News Now, one of Hawaii’s major news stations, did a feature story on U.S.VETS-Barbers Point’s new women veterans program. On October 26, 2012, Jim Mendoza, reporter for Hawaii News Now, visited U.S.VETS-Barbers Point to discuss the ADVANCED Women’s Program that will be opening soon. Donna Klinch, one of the female veterans who currently resides at the site, shared her experiences with Mr. Mendoza and expressed looking forward to moving to the new housing which is at the YWCA Fernhurst location. The opening of the ADVANCED Women’s Program in Hawaii is a new project and with the assistance of Hawaii News Now, U.S.VETS-Barbers Point is able to bring much needed awareness to the community and reach out to female veterans who may be in need of these supportive services.
