On May 10, 2013, U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point held their 1st Annual No Vet Left Behind Charity Golf Tournament at the Hoakalei Country Club. It was definitely a treat for all of the golf participants to play on a course designed by famous golf professional, Ernie Els. After months of planning, the collaborative efforts of all parties involved made this inaugural event quite a success. With about 80 golfers present, a delicious lunch and buffet dinner was served while listening to the melodic tunes of Hawaiian music. Throughout the day, there were great raffle prize giveaways like gift certificates, free tee time for the Hoakalei Golf Course, a boat cruise, and the grand prize: inter-island tickets from Go Airlines.
With a leap of faith, U.S.VETS Barber’s Point began this venture into their first golf tournament, insuring that 100% of the proceeds go right back into the program to serve the veterans. A special thank you goes out to Bobby Barron, a former U.S.VETS veteran, who proudly shared his success story at the event which was received with a standing ovation. Thank you to the two title sponsors, KSSK and Veterans United Foundation, for their support, along with so many more who dedicated their time and efforts into making what was once a dream into a reality.
