On September 25th, 2013, U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point held its annual Open House reception to host community agencies, current partners, neighbors and friends. The event, which is done on a yearly basis, was the site’s opportunity to display both current and existing programs to its guests, and to allow it’s community partners to meet the staff members of U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point. The reception began with a pre-event ceremony filled with music, pupus, and refreshments while guests networked and mingled with staff.
Immediately following the pre-event ceremony, guests began the self-guided tour which allowed them to experience the vision and mission of the site and its residential housing model. The site’s new ADVANCE Hawai’i Women’s Program (AHWP) and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program were featured. A live music performance rounded out the evening with a prize drawings for those who brought one article of business clothing or one hygiene product to support U.S.VETS’ programs.
The success of our Open House reception would not have been possible without the support of new businesses, current partners, and the U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point staff.
