U.S.VETS – Barbers Point Honors Martin Luther King

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” ~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On January 21, 2013, U.S.VETS – Barbers Point participated in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade. Both veterans and staff came together to help honor and celebrate Dr. King’s achievements and beliefs. It was also an opportunity for U.S.VETS – Barbers Point and our new ADVANCE Hawaii Women’s Program to express the positive impact that his efforts have made in the lives of the everyday people. The parade took place in scenic Waikiki, with food vendors and entertainers waiting at the end. The Guinness Book of World Records was present to record an effort to form the world’s largest human peace sign. All in all, the camaraderie was evident at Kapiolani Park in the crowds of people that gathered for the post-parade festivities.
