U.S.VETS’ Hawaii Staff Receives Award at Annual Statewide Homeless Awareness Conference

On November 17, members of U.S.VETS staff from Barber’s Point and Waianae programs attended an all-day conference where they received updates from the Governor’s Coordinator on Homelessness, the State of Hawaii’s Director of Homeless Programs, and the Executive Director of the City & County of Honolulu’s Office of Housing. U.S.VETS also attended breakout sessions on topics such as Strategies for Increasing Housing Inventory, Crisis Intervention & De-escalation Techniques, Spotlight on Hawaii’s Keiki Without Homes, the Coordinated Entry System, and Nonviolent Compassionate Communication.

One of the highlights for U.S.VETS – Team Hawaii was receiving an award for “Expanding Success” from the Homeless Programs Office- a team award in recognition of the hard work performed by service providers for work in the field, case management, and housing services.
