Houston Grand Opera is Coming to U.S.VETS

This autumn, Houston Grand Opera is hosting a series of workshops for military veterans of all ages, genders and branches of service at U.S.VETS – Houston. Join fellow veterans and HGO artists to share stories and reflections based on universal themes with your own personal experiences. HGO artists will create original songs inspired by the group discussion, and will perform these songs at the celebration after the workshop. Bring an open mind and your creativity, and expect to gain new perspectives, build friendships, and explore the transformative power of art.

The workshops will be held every Thursday evening from October 9 through November 13 at 6:00 p.m. A final performance and celebration will be held on November 20. The HGO will also perform the original songs at the Wortham Theater in January.

HGOco is Houston Grand Opera’s unique initiative that connects the opera company with the community through collaboration. Through HGOco, Houston Grand Opera creates opportunities for Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds to observe, participate in, and create art. Its flagship program Song of Houston is an ongoing program that creates and shares work based on stories that define the unique character of our city and its diverse population.
