U.S.VETS â€“ Las Vegas and partnering agencies will host the 13thÂ Annual Veterans Stand Down in March. The event will be held at Cashman Center, located at 850 Las Vegas Boulevard North.
Las Vegas Stand Down is aimed to give homeless and at-risk veterans a hand up, rather than a hand out. The community-based intervention programÂ designed to help homeless veterans â€œcombatâ€ life on the streets. The stand down event will provide food, clothing, services and most of all, long-term solutions to homeless and at-risk veterans. The ultimate goal of the Las Vegas Stand Down is to help veterans get off the streets and into stable housing.
The list of free services that will be available include housing placement, employment and education, homeless courts, pet supplies and legal assistance as well as VA enrollment, medical care, showers, haircuts, computer/email stations, and hot meals.
A Stand Down â€œstoreâ€ will also available at the event where veterans can â€œshopâ€ for free for clothing, food and other basic necessities.
Individuals in the community are encouraged to donate the following items to U.S.VETS â€“ Las Vegas Stand Down â€œstoreâ€:
- Non-perishable food items (preferable cans with pop-tops
- New socks
- New undergarments (underwear ladies garments
- Backpacks & sleeping bag
- Gently used clothing (please have washed & cleaned
- Shirts, jackets, jeans, business attire, etc.
- Men & women shoes
