U.S.VETS – Las Vegas is thrilled to receive the Impact Grant from Nevada Women’s Philanthropy – a member-driven, pooled fund, large-impact grant-making organization established to address the needs of the greater Las Vegas community.
The $405,000 grant will fund a massive project to improve security and increase onsite support for veterans at the main U.S.VETS – Las Vegas facility on Bonanza Road. Feedback from veterans living onsite was crucial, and the guiding force behind the live presentation to NWP, made once U.S.VETS had been selected as one of two finalists from a pool of twenty-five local agencies who applied for the grant. “We really believe in this project,” says Shalimar Cabrera, Executive Director for U.S.VETS – Las Vegas. “When we got the call that we were named the Impact Grant recipient, we were extremely excited and emotional! We are so pleased we can deliver these new services to our veterans.”

Now that the grant has been awarded, staff is preparing to begin putting this funding to use in July 2017. The Impact Grant will provide new security features including a key fob system for veterans’ rooms, security cameras, and a fence to enclose the campus.
