Steps For Vets Raises Over $13,000

On May 7, 2016, U.S.VETS – Phoenix hosted the 1st Annual STEPS FOR VETS 10K/5K/1Mile race at SRP Arizona Falls Park. The highly successful event to raise awareness of veteran homelessness resulted in over $13,000 in net proceeds that will directly assist veterans in need through U.S.VETS’ housing and support services.

According to Michelle Jameson, Executive Director, “We are honored and humbled by the support we have for STEPS FOR VETS. We began our planning process hoping to have 200 runners, walkers and volunteers, on event day 331 participants came to show their support of our veteran community. With the challenges that veterans face today with PTS and suicide rates continuing to climb, this is a wonderful way to show veterans that they are not alone, that people in the community truly care and have their back. U.S.VETS – Phoenix has an amazing staff working 24/7, many who are veterans themselves, who understand firsthand the needs and are here to help in times of crisis.”
