The Northern Arizona Homeless Veteran Stand Down hosted by U.S.VETS – Prescott will be held Friday September 21st and Saturday September 22. The event will take place on the Prescott United Methodist Church grounds located at 505 W Gurley St. in Prescott Arizona.

The name “Stand Down” comes from a term used in times of war. Exhausted combat units requiring time to rest and recover were removed from the battlefield to a place of relative security and safety. Today, Stand Down refers to a grassroots, community-based intervention program designed to help the nation’s estimated 130,000 homeless veterans “combat” life on the streets. The hand-up not hand out philosophy of Stand Down is carried out through the work of hundreds of volunteers and organizations throughout the nation. During Stand Down homeless veterans are provided with food, clothing, hygiene items, legal assistance as well as several community service providers to address veteran needs.
