On March 20-21, 2015, Prescott celebrated the men and women who serve in a big way. Now in its fifth year, the Salute to Heroes event honors all of the local heroes in the community, including military veterans, police, firefighters, EMTs, and more. The event has grown each year, and the Prescott Valley Fire Department estimates that 10,000-12,000 people showed up to show their appreciation for local heroes. The proceeds for Salute to Heroes were donated to U.S.VETS – Prescott.
On Friday, Sun Valley Tire hosted legendary racedriver Mario Andretti, with a Formula 1 car, the DAFT truck and two Bigfoot trucks on display. After a day of signing autographs and meeting with fans, the Bigfoot trucks received a police escort through Prescott Valley to the Prescott Valley Event Center, where the Salute to Heroes event would be taking place the next day. That evening, the Veterans of Comedy put on a show for an audience of over 200.
On Saturday afternoon, each local hero organization had a station set up at the event center to meet and interact with members of the community. In addition to the DAFT and Bigfoot trucks on display, the event had live music, helicopter rides, a classic car show, bounce houses, a paintball tent, and much more.
Salute to Heroes concluded with a bang – a Bigfoot Car Crush show inside the Prescott Valley Event Center. This sold-out event – with an estimated 4,000 people in attendance – included car crushing, a “jaws of life” demo, a BMX stunt crew performance, and a demonstration from the local SWAT team. It was an exciting event, and U.S.VETS is proud to have been a part of it!
