Each year, U.S.VETS honors employees who go above and beyond to fulfill our mission. At each site, awards are given for mission stewardship, outstanding service to veterans, and overall dedication. Nationally, two stand-out employees are recognized for the work they do at U.S.VETS.
This year, we are proud to present John Scott as Executive Director of the Year.
John, who previously worked at our Long Beach site as Program Manager, took a brief hiatus to finish his educational goals. He returned to us last July after completing his Masters Degree in Social Work and has been the Executive Director for our Phoenix location for the past year. Under John’s leadership, the Phoenix site received a much needed overhaul and the renewed community support is evidence of his hard work. He has made great strides in managing the challenges of the Grand Veterans Village property – with John’s hands-on approach, the site received a much need remodeling, and now the occupancy has nearly doubled! Congratulations John!
We are also proud to name Rosa Govea as Manager of the Year.
Rosa has successfully managed the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) grant for all three California sites – commuting to all three, overseeing numerous staff members, and ensuring its administrative reporting requirements were not only done, but done on time and accurately. A recent VA audit of the program had nothing but high praise, which can be directly attributed to Rosa’s leadership. Despite the difficulties in juggling the program at three different sites, with three different staffs and three supervisors, Rosa focuses on the veterans and getting the job done. Congratulations Rosa!
Congratulations to all U.S.VETS employees who won awards at their local sites. We couldn’t do what we do without the hard work and dedication of all of our employees.
