Phoenix Veterans Day Parade

 In Phoenix

The finale of Veterans Day weekend in Phoenix was the Veterans Day Parade. U.S.VETS – Phoenix residents spent countless hours working on a float honoring those from the past, present, and future, represented by campaign ribbons from various wars the U.S. has been involved in and music from those eras. A color guard from the ASU ROTC program led the charge. The local recruiting station also loaned U.S.VETS – Phoenix three HUMVEES for the parade, which the staff had a great time driving.

Over 30 U.S.VETS – Phoenix staff and residents walked in the parade. Several more who were unable to walk rode in either our U.S.VETS vans or the HUMVEES. The spirited staff and residents proudly chanted “U.S.VETS!” for the full two miles of the parade route. After a day in the sun and lots of screaming, many lost their voice and arrived to work with some nasty sun burns, but march on and continue our mission.

Special thanks to Danielle Logan for orchestrating the event, our residents Jimmy and Alex who put the most time into our float, and the wonderful staff in Phoenix. Their esprit de corps continues to enhance the quality of lives of the veterans that turn to U.S.VETS for help.
