U.S.VETS – Waianae sponsored very meaningful activities in honor of Memorial Day 2013. On site activities included planting rose bushes in honor of two former clients, recently deceased (one veteran and one non-veteran), in the WCC Memorial Rose Garden.

At sunset, program residents viewed a 90-minute televised tribute facilitated by Her Holiness Shinso Ito (live from Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu), followed by the lighting of the “Light of Harmony,” and floating of the memorial lanterns. The lanterns contained messages submitted by individuals across the islands, including WCC clients and staff, and were ceremoniously floated in the Ala Moana Lagoon in honor of all the dearly departed.
