SSVF Program Receives CARF Accreditation
After months of preparation and a grueling training program, the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) team at U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point was paid a visit by the CARF committee on April 4-6. CARF, an independent nonprofit organization that surveys and accredits health and human services providers worldwide, granted U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point the highest level of accreditation last year after an intensive process.
As a competitive grant program through the Department of Veteran Affairs, SSVF requires a separate CARF accreditation to apply for three years of funding at a time instead of one. By undergoing this supplemental CARF survey, the U.S.VETS SSVF team would not need to re-apply for funding every year, which frees up more time and resources for providing low-income veteran families with the services they need.
During their visit, the CARF committee met with SSVF program staff, subcontractors and clients to ensure the program is providing the best possible care. After three days of surveys, interviews and inspections, SSVF was honored to receive the accreditation for Rapid Rehousing and Homeless Prevention. This accreditation acknowledges that the SSVF team excels at helping veteran families to find safe, affordable housing options and avoid homelessness. Congratulations to our Hawaii SSVF team! Without their dedication and commitment to our standard of excellence, this CARF accreditation would not have been possible. We commend all our staff members for this success at Barber’s Point.
