U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point Hosts Community Partnership Appreciation Luncheon

 In Barbers Point

On August 5, 2016, U.S.VETS –  Barber’s Point hosted an end of the year luncheon for their community partners.  They had the opportunity to allow their partners a chance to network and obtain an update on U.S.VETS programs.  U.S.VETS also had a chance to give back and recognize those who have partnered and supported the organization throughout the past year.   This event included about 75 attendees, which consisted of individuals to representatives from various businesses/agencies.  Awards were given to outstanding individual or groups from five categories: Ka‘ipū Award (Guiding Together), Kāko‘o Nui Award (Greatest Support), Lokomaika‘i Award (Generosity), Employer of the Year, and Advisory Council Member of the Year. Partners were recognized for their outstanding services and the special impact they made for our veterans at U.S.VETS.

Additionally, Mr. Martin shared his life’s journey of struggles after serving six years in the Navy as an AV Technician.  Having gone through couple of failed marriages, Mr. Martin had additional issues with drinking and substance uses.  He mentioned that U.S.VETS helped him to reach over 10 months of sobriety, bringing his life back on track.  He is now enjoying his new job as a Maintenance Technician.  Community guests appreciated the sharing of Mr. Martin’s story and the award presentations.  Thank you to all who support U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point in every way!
